2D Design ARTS 1311
 

Course Description: A study of basic concepts of design, using two-dimensional materials. Attention will be paid to elements and principles through studio application. Required of most art majors. Open to all interested students. The course of work will be made up of units of work based on the following elements and principles: Form, Line, Shape, Space, Value, Texture, Color, Balance, Movement, Dominance, Repetition, Unity, and Contrast.

Course Objectives:
.To become more aware of the principles and elements of design, and to develop verbal and visual understanding.
.To expose the student to a wide variety of two-dimensional materials and techniques as they relate to design.
.To help the student to think creatively and make use of the elements and principles of design in creative problem solving.
.To cause the student to critically analyze his own work as well as the work of others.
